Do you ladies ever get the impression that our kids sometimes use this illness as an excuse to lose it? I mean, before Riley went manic, I didn't ever tell him specifics about his illness or even what it was called, because I knew this would happen, He already cops out all the time as it is, but now, since He has heard so many people, at the hospital talk about bipolar and all the problems associated with it, and what it can cause in people affected by it, and now his psychologist telling him he actually does have brain damage, He gets mad over the stupidest things and tells me all the time he is going to go "rage" at his sister, and that (according to his psychologist) he is slow because of the brain damage, he has no short term memory so we have to build it, and because of that no long term either., so now I have to request new IEP testing to see if anything has changed since being put on adderall, but what they dont know Is that I am going to remove him from the adderall as soon as this weeks over since my script runs out and I wont refill it, because his psychiatrist from the hospital stay raised his risperdal to a much higher dose three times a day. which reminds me, he is gaining weight like you wont believe.. He has a bubble butt. and weighs 117 lbs. I think he has gained another 10-17 lbs in over a month or two,. I dont know how to get him to slow his eating, but he wont exercise either., I will have to bribe him, we are working on a reward system with his memory with stars, and however many he earns by remembering things he gets them, maybe it will work with excercise too. who knows,, anyways,, I am through venting, I just feel like sometimes, riley uses this(well just since the hospital stay) illness as an excuse to lose it now. what do you think??? Rex
I get to plant my petunias tomorrow, good therapy!!!
