Tonight was one of the most frightening nights I have ever experienced. Jesse has been doing relatively good since he started Lithium last month. Tonight he started hallucinating and hearing voices. My husband has taken him to the ER and I am sitting here by the phone. Jesse has never shown any of these symptoms before. He was shaking with fear and hyperventilating. He said the devil was after him and he saw him in our livingroom tonight. He aslo kept hearing voices trying to tell him something but he said he couldn't make out what they were saying. Even sitting on the couch he would jump with fear thinking someone was on either side of the couch. I called the crisis number his therapists gave me and they said to take him to the ER. They said i could be a reaction to the Lithium. Has anyone ever experienced this? Should I demand they take him off of it? They also told me most likely Jesse will be sent to a psyc ward at a hosptial 2 hours away. We have no children's unit in our local hospital. I could not go because I have 7 other kids sound asleep here who need me. I really have no sitters besides my oldest daughter who is only 15 and I only leave her alone with them for very short intervals. I am just a few weeks away from giving birth and I feel like I am going to collapse from this stress. I wanted my son to get better, not worse! Someone please tell me it is the meds and he will be ok! ~Jayne, very exhausted mom to Jesse, 13 bipolar, lithium, abilify and lexapro (sorry I posted this on the intro board by mistake as well) it's been a long night!
