As a lot of you know I have been taking care of my uncle. My mothers's last brother. He was the last of 11. He passed away on Wednesday. He took a heart attack while he was driving and crashed into a tree. Nobody else was injured. I had to call an ambulance on Monday because he called and said he just was not feeling well. I met them at the hospital and what he had was bronchitis and he was a little dehydrated. They treated him with antibiotic through an IV and rehydrated him. They said he was fine. His bood pressure was good. We went home. I took him to his Dr. on Tuesday and he gave him a good bill of health (considering his health anyway) and I told the Dr. that he's 78 and he wants to feel 50. He and my uncle laughted and the Dr. said, that is my goal for him also. I put him to bed and stayed until he fell asleep on Tuesday. I had to work on Wed. I talked to him twice before I went in and he said he was feeling a bit better (due to the antibiotic) and that he was going to lay down. This was at 12:30 in the afternoon. I told him I would call him again at 6:30 when I got home. The phone was ringing when I came in and it was his neighbhor to tell me something was wrong because the police came to his house twice and his jeep was gone. I called the police and they told me about the crash and he did not survive. He was dead on arrival at the hospital. He was two minutes away from the house.
I am devastated. I can't stand the pain that is in my heart. I got a copy of the police report and I called the two witnesses to the accident. I needed to know what happened. I needed to know why he went out. One very lovely man held him the whole time in his arms assuring him that he would be ok. My uncle was in and out of consciousness. I told the man he was my uncle's Angel during that time. This person gave me so much comfort to know he was not suffering alone. The man is having a hard time (he sounded young) with the trauma. He has had a hard time sleeping and when he does he has bad dreams. He asked if he could come to the wake. He said, "I need to know this man". I will meet him tomorrow at the wake. The casket will be closed, but it will be open to us a half hour before the official time. I told him perhaps if he can see my uncle he will get the image out of his mind. The other witness told me that this man was just unbelieveable comforting my uncle. He praised him. I ask that you say prayers that this Angel will find comfort and not have bad effects. He has a terrible image that he needs to have leave him. When I had to go identify my uncle (I have never had weak legs), my legs buckled from under me.
I know you will pray for us again and I thank you.
