Welcome! It sounds like your son may have bipolar, rather than ADHD. The meds he is on/has been on could be making the disease worse. Using ADHD meds on a bipolar child can worsen the symptoms greatly. Sounds like your school is trying to help. Andtdepressants can also do the same thing if there is not a mood stabilizer to get them stable first. This site has great resources and great people to help and encourage. We understand. It can be a long road, but you don't have to go it alone.
A couple of books that would be very helpful are "The Bipolar Child" and "The Explosive Child". They are books most of us have read, and re-read. Check libray, local book stores and online bookstores.
Again, welcome! Search this site for resources. Also look for a local NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness). They can be helpful and supportive.
My son is 16 and I have been part of this community for about 6 years. This has been my lifeline for support. Join in and ask whatever you want.
