:welcome2 bb49! It's really hard to convince a person how important the meds are if they don't themselves see it or believe it. In my husband's case, it was a dr who point blank told him that without meds, he would end up with psychotic episodes (which he had had in the past) and end up back in the hospital. The hospital experience was SOOOOOO negative for him that that has served as his motivation pretty effectively.

Even if your daughter refuses any counselling, have you considered going yourself? It can be very helpful because a good counselor can help you develop effective coping skills with the situation. Ultimately, in the case with my husband, I worked with his former therapist to help me focus more of my energies on positive growth forward in my life, since neither the therapist nor myself could affect any change in my husband. Does that make sense to you? If we care for ourselves, we are better able to care for or handle the loved ones in our lives and whatever consequences come of their own personal choices.

This board is great because people really do understand where you are coming from and can share their experiences, offer some advice, or just lend a sympathetic ear. It really does help. As Rayni said, most of the posting goes on over at the Venting and Support forum, so feel free to hop over there and post where more people will see it and be able to welcome you.
