Just recently has it come about that many people who were diagnosed with "Recurring Major Depression" are really a form of Bipolar where their mood swings go down way more than up. :aaaflowerrosebud

With as strong a family history for BP that you have reported, your son's diagnosis, your post-partum depression, and your admitted need to self-medicate with alcohol, I would think there is a good possibility that you are also an undiagnosed Bipolar II. :flower4

I feel you would benefit greatly from a good psychiatric evaluation. There are so many fine meds out there that might make you feel much better and take away your need to drink so much. :heart1
