Well yesterday was a "test" of sorts, the snot of a woman who owns the barn we used to board our horses at wrote some bad things about E on facebook to a girl E knows (but isn't friends with). E isn't a "facebook friend" with either of them but saw the messages. She was really upset and I was fearing the worst meltdown. But we managed to talk about it and she calmed down and handled it quite well for E. I was very relieved and proud of her. She got up for school today without incident (just a few wake-up reminders from me) and looked nice.
I think you're right, once E graduates and starts college, she will see it's not so bad. This happens all the time when there is a change in her life - the anticipation is the hardest. Once the change actually happens, she is OK. I'm going to talk to the pdoc about getting something to help her with the anxiety once it gets closer to June. Our summer is going to be very busy, so that will help too. We are going to Germany for 2 weeks right after graduation, and then in August my cousin's daughter is coming from Germany to visit for 3 weeks. She is right between E and dd16 in age. She and E email all the time. We will be going to dh's parents house in NC for a week, and also going to NYC (E's favorite place). The only bad thing about all that is E's anxiety about flying.
