Oh, Peg - I am so sorry to hear about your uncles' passing! This is one of the times when I wish we all lived closer together... somehow there's comfort in numbers.
I hear a lot of guilt on your part in your post... you did not fail your uncle in any way, Peg! Maybe he just wanted to go for a drive, stop at a store, you know? Cabin fever, maybe? The fact is that you took care of him, invested time into this relationship, and probably made an old man very happy late in life. YOU did that, Peg! You loved him, respected him, made his life easier. I don't know why things happen the way they do, but I do tell myself that our fate and destiny have meaning somewhere in this universe. I am also glad that your uncle wasn't alone in his final moments, and I admire the man you call his Angel. He sounds like a very sensitive and generous soul, and I'm sure he gave your uncle great comfort.
However, I see TWO ANGELS in your uncles' life - one is the young gentleman at the scene, and the other one is - YOU!
You are in my heart, my thoughts and my prayers (as is the young man...). PLEASE take care of yourself as best as you can!
Once again, my condolences, Peg!
