This is a rather interesting link. On a map of the country, you can click on your state and get a report of how healthcare fares in your state: http://www.healthreform.gov/

Interesting, JoAnn. I didn't see a grade for the nation as there was for the NAMI report. But a sad report for my state was rated average. I still think
anyone who hasn't seen Sicko should rent it. It's not as depressing as I feared, but is an eye-opener.

The only reason Nick has insurance is because of Medicaid & they call the shots as to what meds he can & can't take. One up side though, we got a
call from the mental health agency that works with Nick & provides in home counseling, saying that Medicaid requires a physical be on file. We're
going, "Huh? This is for mental health." It seems Medicaid wants a physical to make sure there are not other health problems that could be
attributing to the mental health problems.
When we went in to get the physical, Nick's doctor said he got a call from the director of the mental health agency explaining it to him.
Rayni, mom to Nick, 22, SSI, topamax, abilify, buspar, (Asperger's, bipolar, anxiety); prilosec
(reflux); zyrtec-D, nasal spray (allergies); metformin (insulin resistance)

We live in Oklahoma, which is rated as weak for health. Sadly, this is no surprise.

Interesting report...did not see "weak" or other ratings but the outlook on the current healthcare picture remains bleak. I hope some positive
changes can take place with the new administration running things.

Heather, it is in the written report. About 1/2 way down the page, Ohio is rated as average. West Virginia is average too. Interesting.

I just did some snooping and found that most of the states in the Deep South, including Texas, New Mexico and Florida, were rated as weak. For some reason,
Alabama was an exception and got an average rating. Most of the states in the Northeast and West were average. A few states got rated as "strong."
They were Minnesota, Michigan, North Dakota, Nebraska, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire. I might have missed a few, but it presents an
interesting picture. States that I thought would be leaders, like California and New York, were rated as average. North Dakota and Nebraska really surprised me
with their "strong" ratings.
