Hey that sounds like an improvement to me! We will TAKE IT! Yah. At least she is learning to calm down after the initial outburst. I think the consistency
between home and school is what she really needs based on what you wrote. Oh, I'm sure she still has some tricks up her very long sleeve, but it seems this
program may be very useful and helpful for her...I'm so glad!!

This is much more like the experience I had with residential and so much better! I'm glad you found this place so you can get the support you need and
deserve. I hope the vacation is not too hard on you.

Sounds good. I like that there was a conference call and that EVERYTHING was relayed to Lilah. So she knows the expectations. Good that she is learning to calm
down. I hope she can keep it up. I do think it is important to keep her busy too. I am impressed with the school so far. Prayers going up that she can hold it
down til the 9th.

Thanks, all! The "ride" continues, albeit not quite as bumpy. (LOL) Despite previously agreed upon rules (i.e., NO going to Brooklyn during
vacation), Lilah - in her inimitable fashion - tried valiently, though unsuccessfully, to get me to allow her to go "for only one hour" with Scemi
schlepping along. When she saw that I was not capitulating, she started cursing then kicked the kitchen closet door and threw over a chair before storming off
to her room. She came out literally one minute later, gave what she considered an apology ("I'm sorry I did that, but you know this is one of my
problems."), and asked for $10 (she was going out with her friend Marissa). I told her that I would give her the money this time, but made it very clear
that if this happened again during this vacation, she would get no money and lose her texting. Sigh...............

Well, you didn't give in. That's very difficult!! Now she knows that the next time there will be no money. Don't forget.... you know she will keep
track and hope you don't remember. I think you're doing great, Lynne. I have a hard time with all that and have dh here. You do it on your own! Hats
off to you!!!

Lynne, I think this is wonderful news...that situation is very tough! I have been there. Chris is right--when you're alone I think it's easy to get
confused and forget what you said and then give in unintentionally. I do this at times also. That is why I tell my ex everything and then I can call him and he
reminds me of what happened, etc. LOL. Our kids are such master manipulators and arguers...if we aren't on our toes, we get sucked back in so easily! Not
this time though...you didn't do that and I am proud of you. I know you usually don't but I also know she has the ability to wear a person down fast,
especially if you are tired or not feeling great. It surely is not easy.
Testing limits sounds o.k. Seems to me L. is handling things much better than what you have reported in the past. Happy hugs!

Lynne, is there any kind of camp she could go to for a week? Anything she likes to do? Day camp? YMCA camp? Just thinking. Seems that if she was busy she might
be more satisfied at home for the next little bit. Our kids bore so easily.

Great, sounds like progress Lynne! At least she is calming down right away!
I hope you have a great time in Montauk! The weather should be good.

I looked into all that kinda stuff, Chris, and it's either prohibitively expensive ($450 -$1,000 per WEEK!!!) or not available when we need it. Hopefully,
things will be relatively OK until we leave for Montauk on Sunday morning. On the way back (July 2), I'm dropping her off at Marissa's summer house
and she'll stay there for a few days, so there won't be too much time before she has to return to school on July 9. All I can do is HOPE!

We emphasized that it was important that she carry over to home her the expectations and responsibilities she's required to perform at school, i.e., keeping her room neat, folding and returning clean clothes to where they were, putting dirty clothing in the laundry basket, brushing her teeth and showering daily, and washing her dishes.Sounds like Nirvana to me. I certainly don't have those habits at my house with HJ, even at her age. I'm happy to hear you have plans for "trips" and
"visits" that will keep L. busy, out-of-town, and on a tight leash for so much of her school break. Stay strong.

I think it was great that she was able to come back in and apologize. I also think it was great that you reminded her of the rules.

I agree that you handled that with flying colors. Hope you have a great time in Montauk. Try to get some relaxation for yourself. Is Scemi going too?

Well, Lynn - let's put it this way: Scemi does NOT = relaxation! He's not coming, except perhaps on the 30th, which is my birthday. I will be able to
relax as long as Lilah doesn't pull anything or create drama (also HIGHLY unlikely!).

Lynne, I'm really hoping that you have a relaxing trip. It is so needed and I really hope that L. can behave and you can enjoy her. Some UP time is needed
by both of you. Let's cross everything.....

Sending best wishes for a pleasant trip. I hope you do get to relax and have a great birthday. My dd actually did travel well most of the time and our best
times together were usually on trips. I hope that will be true for you this time.
