I found that a schedule works well for my son. A
therapist told me to schedule out his entire day, so I have 3 schedules (1 for school days, 1 for non-school days and 1 for Sundays). If he is wandering
around the house or harassing one of us, I refer him back to his schedule. Like you, I have another child to care for and have to still keep the household
running. I love spending time with DS and playing games, but the reality is that I can't do that for him 24/7. My DS can't seem to find something to
do on his own, so we came up with this schedule. He helped create it, so I suggest you do the same with your DS if you decide to do this and include the
activities your DS enjoys (mine likes computers and Bakugan).
Here's my disclaimer....be prepared to follow it yourself. Our most recent arguments have been because we've "been off schedule". My son is PDD-NOS, too (Autism Spectrum), so he is less flexible than most. If you sit your DS down and create the schedule, be sure
to tell him to expect the unexpected (last minute errands, traffic causing you to be late with dinner, etc.) you may have more luck than I do.

For the most part, this works on a daily basis.
