Insurance Coverage for Autism - State of  IL



Beginning December 12, 2008, all individual and group health insurance policies and HMO contracts must abide by the provisions of Public Act 95-1005 (215 ILCS
356z.14).

This new Illinois law provides coverage for the diagnosis and treatment of autism spectrum disorders for children under 21, establishing an annual benefit of
$36,000 for services provided pursuant to this Act.

			<description><![CDATA[ Ah, so not self-insured and non-public employers like I was reading it. They are saying it does not apply to self-insured non-public employers. I was taking
that as two separate classes when it is describing the type of public employer (as in self-insured). Thanks for clarifying! ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ It is actually an IL state law that is for all insurance carriers of both individual and employer sponsored plans. I am going to try and see if they will cover
Bubba&#39;s therapy as now we have to reach the deductible first which is $3,600. Pretty much the same as no coverage at all as by that time he has exceeded
his annual visits. I will let you know how it goes. ]]></description>
